For me, writing fanfic goes in waves by canon. I don't think I could actually sit down and write a piece of HP fanfiction any more, so if you get back to it, more power to you. Writing alone will be an accomplishment! Speaking from the perspective of someone who finally finished something I started four years ago, I can tell you that we are not the same writers we were then. What we write now will be markedly different from the things we wrote then. In my case I ended up changing the POV and rewriting the whole thing, even the good parts, so they match the kind of writing I do now. Don't be alarmed if you find you can't match what you did back then!
But if you do write that stuff, I'll read it!
