150 years ago today, Darwin and Wallace's paper on natural selection was presented to the Linneaen Society of London with the support of Hooker and Lyell. In time, the premise of this paper has torn communities apart and united biologists and laypersons alike.
It also gave us the premise for an equally crucial piece of modern literature.

As Fark put it: 150 years ago today, Charles Robert Darwin presented his theory explaining why fuel thieves carry Zippo lighters, drunks retrieve their hats from bear enclosures and Texans get out of bed in the morning.

Personally, I would like to thank the finches for being such good observational subjects without letting anyone know their political or religious leanings. Yes, I joke.

Little known zoology secret: the finches are actually staunch Young Earth believers and have dissociated themselves from modern evolutionary camps.
