my hair is black and i want to dye it back blonde, but i know bleaching and stripping it will make it like... really really dead. does anyone have pictures of their hair ..how dead it is after bleaching it, so i know what im in for?

I have been bleaching my hair for over a year. About every 10-12 weeks. It is soft. I don't know if your hair is like mines, or like Jessica Simpsons. But it really isn't as bad as people say.

The key is to be patient. Don't try to do everything in one day without giving your hair a break. Plus, it's good to remember that more shorter bleachings (again, not all in the same day) is better than one long epic bleaching.

The worst my hair ever was from bleaching was once I bleached two times in one week, but I recovered from that using deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner and only needed a small trim.

i got rid of my black hair in the stupidest way.. all the salons i visited told me they would not do it, so i took matters into my own hands.

my friend bleached my hair 3 times in one night, and coloured it one more time to get rid of the yellow. i was planning on dreading it the next day (which i did) and bleaching your hair opens up the cuticle of your hair, making it easier to dread.
i've had healthy hair my whole life, and even after 3 bleachings & one colouring in one night, my hair turned out fine.

sorry about the bad picture, it's the only one i have where my hair is not fully dreaded.
but yeah, i had dyed my hair black about 30 times before bleaching it.
however, i do NOT recommend doing what i did.

First time bleaching isn't that bad. It's only worse if you keep bleaching over the already bleached hair.

if you wanna have a chemical cut go ahead....

what will happen is...is that since you have lightner under the black...you are reactivating the chemicals and it is just eatting your hair...that is if you decide to use box...go get quick blue from sally's and 40 cream developer....uhh alright leave it in for 30min and then use paul mitchell super strength treatment and super charged moisture conditioner....what you do is do a regular wash that you would usually do...then put the treatment on for TEN mintues NO LONGER! then use the super charged moisture....leave that in over night DO NOT USE A BLOW DRYER OR FLAT IRON in this process...then lighten your hair again for fourty mintues....

when mixing the lightner....get like a creamy pudding type mix....

if it has a yellow tint get toner.
