You know what I hate? I hate it when I forget what I was going to write about because I waited too long to post. Sometimes, I make notes, so I won't forget, but it's been a while this time, so I guess I'll just have to make a go of it ( Read more... )

For some reason, I had Marty Robbins' "El Paso" playing through my head while reading this post.

I have been reading about the drug battles. Apparently, the cartels own many of the cops and feel they can do as they wish. Up until now, I've only heard about problems on a large scale in Tijuana. Granted, the border does as good of a job at stopping people as a sieve does stopping water.

Crazy. Either things have gotten much worse in Juarez since the last time I was there, or we just unknowingly walked into a hornet's nest ten years ago. :)

You should definitely make friends with you neighbors (at least the ones with the pool)! If it's still so warm there when I come to visit, I just may want to go swimming...maybe at night though because of the whole fair skin/easily sunburning thing I've got goin' on. You should learn how to make coconut cakes with super-fluffy icing and open a coconut cake store...I bet it would be a hit...eh, you could sell carrot cake with cream cheese icing too if you like, you know, just for some variety.

Its good to hear the weather at night is nice, and that tortilla is the same in both english and spanish (what?). I have heard that the barbeque, like the chili, is unforgivingly (insert word for only-done-one-way). Like, no beans in chili, and all barbeque is beef. I've also heard news about the border, how they are stepping it up a bit. I honestly hope the border doesnt become super crazy dramatic in the next few years.
