Interesting comments. Even I was not overly thrilled with Watson sleeping with Mycroft, not because I am a shipper whatsoever but simply cos I don't see any Chemistry. Having said that, that didn't get in the way of spoiling the episode too much for me because the dialogue and other things were just brilliant and at the end of the day, Joan is single so she can date who she wants. Of course, my first preference would be someone who is not her working partner's relative. I guess though when it happened for the 1st time in London, she never dreamt that it would be more than a 1 night stand.
Oh, I think part of it is a chemistry thing. If Joan and Mycroft had fabulous chemistry, I probably could have been convinced (I don't care about the one night stand for example). They do not. I agree that other parts of the episode were amazing. I was just generally annoyed.
BUT AFTER TAKING WEEKS TO DECIDE TO MOVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH HIM, INSTEAD OF GIVING HER SPACE TO GET USED TO THE MASSIVE DECISION, MORON PROPOSES? DUDE. YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS SKITISH IN RELATIONSHIPS. SHE TOLD YOU THIS. READ THE SITUATION PROPERLY.
I totally agree. Pike's officially an idiot. (Something I'm actually grateful for, because it means Lisbon is probably going to reconsider her decision.)
And I'm starting to wonder how long they've been together, because that proposal sounds just plain ridiculous to me.
True. I should probably look at it as, "Hey, at least now Pike has a flaw. And he no longer essentially Bill Pullman from Sleepless in Seattle."
Honestly, unless we're supposed to believe there were months and months between the early episodes of the reboot, they've been together a few months. Because there can't have been that long between the last three episodes or so. Not with all those women in a shipping container. I think three months is generous.
Which makes a proposal somewhat absurd. At least in my opinion.
Well, the Mentalist part in any case, as I don't watch Elementary. But honestly, I agree with practically everything you said. I didn't find the ep boring per se, although I wasn't as riveted as during the two previous ones either.
BUT THE PROPOSAL. WHAT THE. I liked Pike fine. He was maybe too perfect, yes, but I loved that they made him a genuine good guy. And now this? WHAT IS THIS? Seriously dude, I know you've only been in a relationship with Lisbon for like 2 months (if that), but do you know your girlfriend at all?
Elementary is generally a really good show. I just haven't liked the last few episodes as much. But then, there has been a kidnapping plotline, SO....
The proposal was absurd. I have decided. Three months is the absolute maximum they've been dating, and only if you assume there are massive time gaps between some of the early episodes of the reboot. But it almost doesn't matter how long they've been dating. Because they haven't been dating long enough for him to realize how little she's going to like this. Which means he's subtly pressuring her, AGAIN. Which means DIE IN A FIRE PIKE.
(My reaction *may* be disproportionate to his crime. But I have decided not to be reasonable. This episode really irritated me.)
Hahaha, your reaction is definitely disproportionate, but I DON'T CARE. I am enjoying it anyway.
WHO PROPOSES AFTER THREE MONTHS? WHAT. Unless they've been best friends since childhood and the romance has been coming for a lifetime, I DO NOT ACCEPT HASTY PROPOSALS. I wonder if he was trying to drive his advantage home after she'd finally agreed to go with him. I don't know. What can possibly explain his reasoning here? He has to be aware that she's not in this 100%. So...what? His insecurity leads him to propose marriage? WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE?
That was nothing but weird. What's next? While you think about that proposal, want to try to get pregnant? But hey, no pressure.
That is the thing. I mean, I suppose it could be four months, but EITHER WAY. Too soon. Way too soon! I hate hasty proposals. How is he so sure that he's all in? Perhaps his previous divorce did a number on him, or something. And now that he is in a happy relationship that looks like it could go somewhere, he just decides to go all in?
I would literally not be surprised if that was the next step in stupid!Pike's mind. Because really now.

I just, I'd been enjoing both shows a lot until this week. And then they were both disappointing.
Still, I suppose it could have been worse. :) At least it's just TV.
