I feel like a klaxon should have sounded to let brdgt know about this. I'm sure she would have some answers.

I don't think zombies smell humans, I think they sense movement. In World War Z, zombies don't blink and presumably can't see, however they seem to be able to hear other zombies when they moan. I think in Rot and Ruin the zombie pooping situation is discussed. Possibly gravity helps? And they don't eat a lot.

The decomposing part would also take care of the brain part, the brain stem would eventually reach a stage of mush which wouldn't allow it to function any longer.

In the Walking Dead tv show, the zombies can definitely smell the humans. The humans figure out that they can escape notice, at least temporarily, by smearing themselves with zombie guts. One woman also keeps zombies (minus arms and jaws) on chains to help detract other zombies.

1. Love this list.
2. We are never. EVER. Never Ever. Watching this show together. (Even if that were ever a possibility it wouldn't happen)

You're as bad as Nick! He's always like "why are they separating?" "Why can you become a zombie by being bitten *or* just dying?" "How did they not get scratched and turn into a zombie there?"

The answer is - there's no such thing as zombies, shut up! ;p
