We are fighting against an enemy who mutilates captured soldiers and leaves them next to IEDs. What kind of belief system do you have to have to be able to sleep at night knowing that you haven't shown a shred of dignity towards another human being, regardless of their religion ( Read more... )

It's so scary to live in a world where outside your little bubble -- everyone hates you. There's nothing I can do about it. It's very scary. Maybe I have a defeatus attitude but I am honestly scared to continue living in the US.

...How can you be scared to live here? Have you not been paying attention to what's happening in other countries, like Britain and Spain? Countries like that (especially Spain, who followed terrorist demands) have been hit a lot harder than we have since this whole ordeal started. In fact, there have been Al Quaeda leiutenants who have called off poison gas strikes on American soil because they're scared of the consequences.

And is just because someone hates you a good enough reason to keep from doing what's right?

Have you not seen the thing on the history channel about Iran and how "down with america." they are? I think it was called Iran: The Next Iraq? It's scary to thinkg that someone will dedicate their life to bring you down and it's the whole country that is against us. I am scared. I don't know anywhere that is safe to live but I'm scared here.

but does that mean that we should back down and shy away from iran because they're out to get us ideologically, as well as politically? i don't think so. they should be confronted in whatever manner of their choosing on how to settle the argument between the (word-of-the-day) islamofascists and the West

well said sir

i think a major problem with our foreign policy today is the absence of total victory, unlike wars past, we do not fully demolish an enemy and their will to fight, we just take out small portions of the army and hope everyone else follows suit and surrenders
