Yet again this place has burned me, and I am not happy. I arrived at the airport this morning at 4:15 to stand by for the 5:45 flight from Istanbul to Amsterdam. Needless to say, I got next to no sleep. Of course that one was full, and KLM pretty much told me not to even bother for the later flight. I waited in about 5 more lines and got listed

I am jealous of you getting to be in Europe at all...please do tell everything about Istanbul - I don't know anybody who's ever actually been there!
Best of luck getting home...but isn't your missing work partly due (at least indirectly) to your own company?

This was definitely an adventure, you're right, but in general I don't feel like my life has much adventure. I'm definitely happy I was able to do this, and feel better now that I got some sleep.
Unfortunately Northwest isn't responsible. I mean, yes they should have let me get on the flight, but it's not their fault that the Turkish Airlines flight was late, or that I chose a connection which required me to change airports. One of the disadvantages of travelling standby is that you're completely on your own. I don't think it will be the end of the world--I mean, it's only a 5 hour shift, I was just really upset with everything. I'll write more about Istanbul on the ride home tomorrow, I should try to get some more sleep.
