Linux FTW (again)

The recent software update for the phone ensures that video shot with the phone now goes out in 3GP.   About this format, Windows (natively) knows nothing.   Ubuntu, otoh, had a converter utility installed which knocked out the conversion to MP4 (it's posted on B's blog) in about six seconds.   Without ads or nagware trying to sell me something ( Read more... )

I'd do Fedora 11 but I'm running out of drive space ;-)

I'll guess that the problem is ATI's drivers. I've worked with ATI stuff for a billion years and in general, it's been a PITA under Linux.

If the install is locking up the BIOS, have you considered whether or not to turn off some of the extended BIOS features? I've found that it can help get to at least a command line.....
