Hadley-Bright may be found in the Mansion's stable, making certain that the horse upon which he arrived is sufficiently readied for the sudden cold and snow. The Mansion seems to care for most such things on its own, but where horses are concerned, Hadley-Bright would much rather be certain.

Sir Lamorak has just recently discovered the stables and, as horses are much easier to understand than women, has begun spending a great deal of time there. When he enters, he finds Hadley-Bright already there and says, "Good day, sir. I hope I do not disturb you," with a small, frank smile.

'It is the first winter I have spent here,' Hadley-Bright replies. 'But it is damned cold. I had to see if someone had seen to the horses.'
