Mardi Gras? Sounds interesting. I've never heard of it before. Is this a tradition just in New Orleans?

F' th' most part...we N'Orleans folks are the ones who really celebrate it, though there are some folks outside o' town that do too. It's a festival for dressin' up in costumes, playin' music and eatin' lots o' good food.

Those kinds of festivals are the best. Sounds a little like St. Patrick's Day back home. What's it celebrate?

Oh, sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I'm Neil Dylandy.

Well, historic'lly, it's th' day before Ash Wednesday, which sched'les fastin' for Lent...."Mardi Gras" means "Fat Tuesday", so it's the day y' eat a lot before y're supposed t' start fastin'. But not everyone celebrates Lent anymore, so most folks just celebrate Mardi Gras without fastin' th' next day. It's jus' a day t' celebrate life and th' good times.

Nice t' meet y'! I'm Tiana. I think I've seen y' in class before, so y're a sixth year too, righ'?

Thanks for the dinner Tiana! It was delicious!

(ooc: Rosette is a total glutton. She probably ate half of it all by herself..lol)

Aw, thank y', Rosette! I would've done more, but th' house elves in th' kitchen don' like me cookin' a whole lot since it's their job. I guess it was only 'cause I told 'em 'bout Mardi Gras that they let me make 's much 's they did.

((Tee hee~, Tiana likes people with big appetites. ;D))

They're called beignets...th' ones I made were honey beignets, but there are fruit beignets too.

Wow! You helped make all of that? It was delicious!

Heh, you're making me want to visit the states sometime... That kind of a celebration sounds right up my alley!

Haha, well, jus' th' stuff the house elves don't usu'lly make; don't know how well I would have done everythin' there by myself. I'd try, though.

Y' really should sometime! I really do think y'd like it. Mardi Gras happens durin' the school year, but N'Orleans loves parades, it practic'lly searches for an excuse t' have one.

((Strikes are thouuuughts. 'Cause Tiana rarely says she can't do something. XDD))
