A final voyage...

Jul 10, 2010 18:14

Delays and attacks have postponed it long enough.  Today, a man lies in a coffin before you.  His body has been treated and cleaned of superficial wounds, and he appears at peace.  Today is a day of rememberance, a day to say final goodbyes, a day to look towards the future the man has helped to create.

Today is the funeral for Captain Daitetsu

Tetsuya is standing close to the casket. He had promised himself that he wouldn't cry today, but he was in the process of breaking that promise. Tears rolled slowly down his cheeks.

If it wasn't for Captain Daitetsu, I wouldn't have survived this long...

I won't dishonor him by using a false name at his funeral. For now, I will mourn him as Elzam, not Ratsel...

"Emerald Force, salute."

Gamlin was there, wearing his best uniform. The rest of the Emerald Force followed his lead - all of them giving their honors by saluting simultaneously. A great man departs, and although Gamlin knew him only a little, he still felt sad inside.

*She had barely known the man. In fact she couldn't even recall ever directly talking to him in her time with the GDF. There was hardly any reason for her to stand there, saluting him.

That didn't matter though. He had been a father-figure to those here and he deserved a noble funeral like this...

... The kind of funeral her own father had never gotten.*

*Even Tasuku manages to be unusually serious today.*

Farewell, captain... You were like a father to your men. Kinda strict sometimes but what father isn't? You will be missed.

*Salutes*
