I'm not on it myself- but hearing from other people that the doctor will try and perscribe the best one for you- various combinations and such- it might take a while for you to actually get the right one that works for you- but when it does it works really well. :o) I believe it numbs the pain alot, but best of luck. *hugs*
Well, my periods were not too troublesome before the pill -- sorry! :( -- so the greatest benefit for me was that everything was lighter. Three and a half days or four days, compared to seven. However, my sister always had rotten, evil periods, and she thought the pill was a godsend. I have known a few people who had to try two or three different brands before they found one that worked well for them, but I haven't heard of any major horror stories (but then again, I don't know what brands are available in the U.K.). The one side effect I can think of is that I kept on a few pounds -- about what I normally would have from bloating. Some people also think that having been on the pill can make it difficult for you to conceive once you're off it, but I don't believe that's been proved. Good luck! It might really help. :)
