ALL ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Name: Roxas
Game: Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Point in Canon: Day 255.
History/Background:
Lazy Manda is extremely lazy. Personality: Despite being Sora's Nobody, there are many factors that set Roxas's personality apart from that of the Keyblade Master's. For one, Roxas is much more prone to displaying negative emotions, like anger and sadness, than Sora is. DiZ once remarks, "You should share some of that hatred with Sora. He's far too nice for his own good." Roxas's capacity for anger leads him to be arrogant and brash at times; he lets his anger get the better of him, often landing himself in undesirable situations.
However, this doesn't mean that Roxas is just a mean guy; in fact, a lot of his angry and melancholic responses are caused by his confusion and cluelessness. One thing that really sets him apart from his fellow Nobodies is his ability to feel emotions, as Sora is still alive. No one else he knows has true emotions like him, which leaves him without anyone to consult. His unfamiliarity with dealing with emotions coupled with his lack of memories (and thus, life experiences) leads to him not knowing how to respond in certain situations. This is especially evident in his pursuit to find out more about Sora.
In contrast, when with people he's comfortable with, the connection between him and Sora really shines. While he is not as open to friendship as Sora is, Roxas truly cares about those he considers friends--much the same as his Other. He lets loose when he's with them, acting much more like an average teenage boy. When with Axel (and, when she exists, Xion), he is able to tease, joke around, and have a rare sense of normality--or at least as normal as a Nobody can get.
Another similarity to Sora lies in Roxas's stubbornness. He does show care for others if they're in danger, but he doesn't just rush into things like his Other does. Roxas prefers to help people discreetly and indirectly, Whereas Sora tends to do things and ask questions later, Roxas thinks his actions through and rationalizes them before acting, unless he lets his rage get the better of him.
Though at first glance Roxas appears to be nothing more than an irritable, sulky teen, he is actually a very deep and complex Nobody struggling to cope with his unknown part and his possession of emotions, who's just trying his best to be himself.
First-Person Sample: Saïx told me that I'm still supposed to keep a diary while I'm here. I would have kept writing even if he didn't tell me to, though. It's just become part of my day. Things are just as hard to write as they were before... but if I managed then, I can do it now.
I've had a lot of new missions lately--they all have to do with running the cafe. It's... weird. I can't really think of a better word for it. It must be because I'm used to doing field missions. ... I actually think I liked those better, even if they were harder. At least I got to see new places instead of washing dishes and dealing with customers everyday.
I usually take a walk around the town after work. I have a lot more off time than I used to--another weird thing. This place... really is different than The World That Never Was. It's a lot more like Twilight Town, actually. That surprises me. Axel would probably say something about being freaked out that Xemnas would ever do anything other than "doom and gloom."
... Speaking of Axel, I've been waiting for him to show up. He hasn't yet--I still wonder what happened to him. Xion too... I hope they're okay. Both of them would have to come here sometime, right?
I saw a clock tower on that walk earlier. Maybe, once they're here, we could go there after we're done with work and have some ice cream, just like we always used to. Maybe everything will be back to normal by then...
Third-Person Sample: Business was--surprisingly--booming down at The Cafe That Never Was. It always seemed like customers were flowing in nonstop, leaving poor Roxas--who was tending to the shop all by his lonesome--with way too much on his plate. Day after day, he was seating customers, making food, serving food, washing the dishes... it was a hard job, especially for a kid his age. Once he'd tried to employ some of his Samurai Nobodies to help him out; the result was not pretty, so that was the end of that.
Roxas was always relieved at the end of his shift, when he'd finally earned a break away from the hustle and bustle of the shop. A part of him wanted to protest, wanted to complain about how it was impossible for him to keep this up for much longer. But of course, there was no talking back to Xemnas. He'd heard stories from Axel about beings that had attempted just that; you were extremely fortunate if you got turned into a Dusk.
... But maybe Xemnas had changed. For one, they were willingly bringing in people from different worlds to their new town and interacting with them on a daily basis. What had happened to not coming into contact, staying in the shadows and such? What had prompted the sudden move to this new town, when their base at The World That Never Was was perfectly fine? Why did no one ever question any of this?
He knew the older members would have at least a little inside info on Xemnas's scheme; being the newest one, he didn't have a clue what was going on. That didn't keep him from raising his brow and having his suspicions... but, well, it was seriously hard trying to unravel a conspiracy when you had disgruntled customers literally biting into your treasured supply of sea salt ice cream every day.
