They're saying Pluto's not a planet anymore. I heard about this in the grocery store. My stock of hohos was swiftly dwindling and my supply of hot pockets needed replenishing, which explains why I was shopping at all; unless Kate or someone comes over with bags of processed food and cheap wine, my cupboards and refrigerator stay fairly bare save ( Read more... )

This whole thing with Pluto just confuses me every single time I hear about it. I guess I need to go look up what all the talk is about.

I'm confused, too, mostly because my primary news source is Mama Cass. I would google about it, but I'm not all that interested in it unless it's a planet whose matter is made up solely of twinkies.

I know there's a difference between Pluto being a planet and being a dwarf planet, but I'm not seeing it. Think of all the elementary school children whose science projects will now be fucked up, due to someone's bright idea to reclassify what is and isn't a planet.

There probably isn't. A planet's a planet's a planet. I just didn't bother to do any research outside of the grocery store check-out line, and if I had, I would have started this post differently. I made that project, too! Out of wire clothes hangers and play-doh. And what about My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles. If there's no P, I assume that they'll place it with X for that new one? What's a food that starts with X?

This whole thing upsets me, really, because Pluto was always my favorite planet. Sigh.

Algebra is never important. There's probably someone we can sue for forcing us to learn it. Anyway, I really liked this.

I liked Pluto! It was the name of my favorite Disney character! Ugh, I guess Uranus will have to be sufficient, at least it's name has got comedic value.

People that supposedly need algebra for their jobs don't even need algebra. Everything is all computerized now, anyway, I just hate to think about the kind of chaos it's going to cause if we ever happen to lose electricty on a mass scale? Thank you, though! You're totally adorable.

All over me is a guilty pleasure of mine. If you really had a sea foam colored guitar, I would have kissed you in public.

I'll use it. haileyleisha August 29 2006, 00:53:13 UTC
I'll let you watch me play it if you kiss me in public. Or, you know, not in public. How's that?

Ethan's right! Pluto is still a planet, thankfully, so we need not all re-learn our songs or whatever that most of us have already forgotten from childhood years. He's just, like, a dwarf planet. Funniest thing is the first time I heard about it I felt concerned for Mickey's Pluto though the two have no correlation. Have you heard of the new planet Xena that was discovered? I think it's the reason this whole thing started, because there are more planets being discovered every day that are larger than Pluto and have yet to be defined as such. Seriously I sound like such a dweeb but when I'm bored and unbusy at the studio I'll read all the articles on CNN.com or CBC.ca. I can't believe I just got so excited about it all.

You and I think alike. I was more worried about the dog than the planet, how ridiculous are we? I did hear about Xena, and I think I actually read about it instead of just repeating what I heard by word of mouth. I like to keep up with current events, but I'm unnaturally obsessed with global warming-- taking preventative measures, not hurrying it along-- so I'm constantly reading something weather-related or environment related. I'm just desperate to out live a major climate shift like in Day After Tomorrow. I'm weird. I'm the only person alive that enjoys the idea of apocalypse.
