Body and Appearance 1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Abel is pretty thin and lanky, at least he appears so with his bigass cassock and coat on. He's often called a beanpole in canon, and it fits him, considering his height of 6'4". Sans coat and cassock shirt though, Abel is well built and muscular. An ectomorphic build.
2. How old is he? 975, but he ceased to physically age somewhere in his early to mid twenties.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? Abel typically walks slightly slouched back, a relaxed, easy going posture. He straightens right up when shit is about to get serious, however, and when he is in the presence of highly important people in highly important situations.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Abel is very fit and physically healthy. Unless he goes all out in a fight after fully neglecting to feed the crusnik. Then he is almost incapable of movement. The crusnik might also injure him inwardly as well, causing him to cough up small amounts of blood.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? He's only graceful when he has to be. At all times, Abel is most well known for being a horrific klutz. He could trip over air molecules.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? To others, Abel is quite attractive. Even Esther found him to be handsome, though he offsets his looks by being a gigantic goober. Abel himself only see's a monster in the mirror, though he acts either indifferent or almost too proud.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Very pale, with no scarring at all.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. Abel keeps his hair very long, up in a pony tail, and it tends to get a lot of flyaways. He's often characterized with little 'antenna hair' at the top of his head. It's naturally silvery white, even his eyelashes are silver. It's quite fluid and soft as well, considering how much it whips around.
9. What color are his eyes? An icy blue.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? His glasses are almost always on him, either in a pocket, on his head or on his face.
11. What are his chief tension centers? Legs, chest and arms, considering all the running, punching and fist swinging he tends to do. Also swimming, which he hates.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? Abels entire wardrobe is Vatican issued cassocks and coats. He acquires a new attire for the Empire, and he also appears to have at least one plain white button up shirt and pair of pants. Otherwise, all cassocks, all the time, with some truly very fancy decorations on them that enemies love to rip up and set on fire.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? Abels clothes were made specifically to fit him, and while they don't cling to the body or accentuate any features, they're comfortable and well made.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? Abel has no free time anymore. Just ask him, he'll bitch forever about how he doesn't get paid vacations and how he can't ever take a break ever in a million years nope nope nope. In all honesty, even in the event that Abel does, in fact, get a bit of time off, chances are he'd just not wear his big fancy coat around. Or he'd settle for the white button up shirt.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Boxers all the way, man.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Abels voice usually hovers between baritone and tenor. It deepens when he's serious or upset, but tends to shoot right up when he's acting like the big stupid dork that he is.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? Again, it depends. Abel is pretty well known for going a mile a minute when happy, worked up about some job related woe, or the unfairness of being made to pick up the tab. He'll get loud, he'll get talky, and it'll be almost impossible to shut him up. On a normal basis, he's pretty average, word wise and pacing wise. And of course, while serious or honestly upset, he talks quite evenly, and you know shit is getting serious when the tone turns militant and clipped.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? Nnnnope!
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? Abel can speak a huge range of languages. In canon, he is shown speaking Latin, English, German, and the Language of the Empire. It can be assumed that because he was brought up on an international space station, he can speak even more, and can probably converse fluently in most of Europe's languages.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Nope!
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? Abel is brilliant at coming up with stories or pep talks on the spot. Mostly because he's gotten so good at lying, he can usually cover his ass sharpish with another well made fib in a matter of seconds.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Abel is typically almost overly talky, and tends to go in circles a lot with his language, leading people off topic or onto another topic, drifting in and out of being clear and concise and totally, unabashedly beyond understandable. Sometimes right into the realm of the surreal. Of course, once more, if the situation becomes serious, he is nothing short of to the point. Eloquent when he needs to charm someone, but not really... that experienced with words.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Abel is at genius level intellect, capable of quite amazing feats of hacking, engineering, piloting, physics and so on. He puts on a naive face, but he's pretty good with understanding human nature as well. Though when he does trust someone, he trusts them absolutely without question. So, slightly more book-smart than street-smart.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He's very good at last minute plans and thinking on his feet. He relies on trickery most of the time to get out of situations, which requires a great deal of flexibility. He doesn't have time to sit and deliberate, because most of the time he only has a very short time span to think before he puts an idea into motion.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? A bit of both on the logic verses intuitive side, though certainly more by intuition. Abel is first and foremost though an idealist. There is no one on the planet or on Mars who ever thought of Abel as a practical man. Ever.
4. What kind of education has the character had? Extensive and rigorous with little time for fucking around. He had to learn a lot, and internalized almost all of earths major languages, rocket science, computer science and so on, as well as a strong emphasis on military science, physical fitness and combat.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? Abel's job in the Vatican deals mostly with Public Relations and in police work. He's actually quite good, socially, though he puts on his idiot face most of the time. He focuses on criminology and sociology mostly, while also being an ace gunman and quite skilled with several fighting styles.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Introvert. Even with his idiot mode fully activated, Abel usually prefers to either hit the buffet table and support the wall, fail with flirting with ladies and leave, or just find some other stupid reason to get the hell out.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? At first, Abel appears fairly laid back, irresponsible and chipper. In reality, he's actually got a pretty vicious temper, and when his berserk button is pressed, he's not only almost unstoppable, he's practically unreasonable as well. When he was younger, his moodswings were almost legendary. Nowadays, though, he's pretty sad inside, broken and depressed.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Considering the people and situations? Abel is usually quite to make it clear that he's not a threat in any way, shape or form. He's cheerful, bouncy, friendly and boastful. If it's a pretty woman, he's all that and flirty.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? React mostly. If Abel had his way, his life would be calm and quite and peaceful.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Flight. He hates fighting, and usually prefers to lose his enemies, or trick them into messing themselves up, rather than go toe to toe with them.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Abel is pretty big on the puns. Also short jokes. Loooots of short jokes. All of you. Short.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? More than likely, he suffers from depression the most, as well as a martyr complex and a guilt complex. He is both avoidant and dependant, fearing losing any of those who he loves, while never actually getting any closer to any of them. Everything he does is governed by self loathing, and fear of the possibility of potentially harming someone.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? The death of Cain and Lilith. Even though the crusnik resurrected Cain, it didn't truly bring him back and Abel fully blames himself for it, as well as Lilith's death. He is unable to move past it, and because he believes himself to be the catalyst of Lilith's passing and Cains insanity, he both punishes himself and almost worships their memory by taking up a position in the church, like Lilith, and adopting Cains former, upbeat and gentle personality.
14. What does he fear? The crusnik and himself. By proxy, he fears his past mistakes coming back to ruin everything that Lilith helped start.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations? Only that he might somehow help mankind. In some small way, help to protect them, and to wipe away the stain that the crusnik has caused.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? He is deathly afraid of anyone else discovering what he has done in the past, what he is capable of now, and what he might have to be forced to do in the future. Abel fully believes himself to be a monster, and his only wish is for people not to be afraid of him. Discovering his past and the crusnik would utterly destroy this.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. He didn't have any. Needless to say, Abel despised the scientists that brought him up, and more than likely still harbors some dislike for them.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? He has Cain, his win brother of whom he is a clone, and Seth, his baby sister. He also has Lilith, though she is less of a sibling, and in reality, his lover.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? None others. He still loves Cain, but he hates the crusnik 01 that has taken over Cains body. Cain is now little more than a walking corpse, being steered and commanded by the crusnik.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Catarina, Tres and Esther he all loves deeply. He treats both Esther and Caterina like daughters, though Esther is now getting even closer to him than that. With Tres, he's often referred to him as a brother, and absolutely adores him.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Tres and him. BFFs forever yes. Totally met after Abel beat the everloving shit out of him to keep Tres from killing the shit out of Caterina.
6. Does he have other close friends? No. Everyone else is an acquaintance, though Sister Noelle was rather close to him.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? Abel has no issue getting along, and he can have a great deal of causal friends, but none of them know that much about Abel himself.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? To him, his family are his friends. They are one in the same.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Abel never married. His soul mate was Lilith, and when she passed on, he never got involved with anyone else. Esther is slowly but surely fracturing this reality though.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? Not really. Esther is a strange case. Abel either can't see or won't admit that he's falling in love with her.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? Lilith was his very first true love, he had no crushes before her, and for nine hundred years, no loves after. Esther is working her way past the emotional barriers he's set up though.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? Intelligence, strong will, gentleness and a willing to learn and accept new ideas. Almost no one could compare to Lilith.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? Abel has no children, and probably wouldn't want any for fear that he might pass the crusnik on.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? His brother Cain is the first and foremost enemy. Or rather, 01 is. Dietrich and Isaak are in close second.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the
Kinsey scale? Abel hovers around 0, 1, and maybe 2. He's never had sex, and has only ever loved Lilith, but he does openly flirt with both men and women.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? Sex is something he sees as beyond him now. If he has sex with an average human, or even an average Methuselah, there is the possibility that some fluids might be tainted with the crusnik. Abel and his kin were only accepted by the crusnik due to being strong enough bodies, anyone else exposed to it might actually suffer a very painful death.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? Abel appreciates beauty of course. Lovely women can expect him to flirt with them, often poorly, but at least he's not crude. He's not really looking for love though. As for kinks? Abel is vanilla. Utterly and completely. Not only is he a 975 year old virgin, even if he did have sex it would be tender, loving, consensual sex with a woman in the missionary position with a great deal of cuddling and pillow talk afterward. Yeah, he's totally on the cutting edge of sex here.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (
zodiac of
choice) sign? How well does he fit type? Abels exact birthday is unknown.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? Despite being a priest, he isn't sure if there really is a God, or full out doesn't believe in one. After all, how can any kind and caring God let all the horrible things he's seen in his life happen?
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Abel is heavily pacifistic. He almost always outright refuses to kill, and will almost always run from a fight or use trickery before ever pulling out a gun or swinging his fists. Still, if a loved one is threatened, or if people have already died, he will not hesitate to bring down some pretty heavy justice in the form of a holy ass kicking.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? Quite curious, actually. If he hasn't already heard of it, he'd want to know all about it.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? He honestly has attempted to drop all prejudices. Abel learned the hard way what level of damage comes from emotions like hate.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Poor as dirt. He only gets a monthly stipend, spends it on food, and at all other times has a grand total of four dinars in his pocket. Curse you, vow of poverty!
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? Abel has never been in the highlight. He's pretty average joe, social status wise. Only a few people know his name, and they're either high Vatican officials, close friends, hated enemies, or about to be dead.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? In the Vatican, presumably in a dorm.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? Candy and tea. All the time, every time.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? Abel works as a priest for the Vatican. He does it in memory of Lilith, and to fulfill his promise to Caterina. He can't see himself doing anything else.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? No free time for Abel. His interests/hobbies involve eating, reading, and falling off of high buildings.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? Abel can eat all time time, all day. He has a stupidly high metabolism and can polish off portions fit for three people without any effort. He hates fish though, as well as bland food and overly sour food. When depressed, he can go without eating for intensely long spans of time, as long as he's not expending too much energy. While he doesn't often drink, he does still do it. Abel can get hammered, make an idiot out of himself, pass out and recover in record time thanks to his ultra fast metabolism.
