Sometimes these go hand-in-hand, but for sanity purposes, I separated the two into two different scenes.

I think fandom is pretty split on The Doctor's Daughter but I thought Jenny was cute and even though I, like you, immediately knew she would have to die because Ten can't have nice things, I still felt bad for him. I really want Jenny to come back now that Eleven's the Doctor, even if it's just for an episode or two, because he's SUCH a daddy to everyone I think it'd be so adorable and also the actors aren't dating so it wouldn't be weirdMan, watching River's ending after liking River must've been so weird. When you watched it without having seen s5, it was really sort of anticlimatic -- or at least I thought so and I know most of the people on my flist agreed. Because we'd never seen her before and even the Doctor didn't really have any connection to her, her dramatic sacrifice was kind of like "....oh..." and for a long time it looked like we wouldn't even see River ever again, so what was the point? NOW I think it works a bit better on rewatch, but still, risky story-telling. I think I could never ship Doctor/River because of that

As much as that made me laugh, it's so true. You know what, though, I've been thinking about that recently. Having Jenny pop up sometime. She's got to still be out there somewhere. Eleven's reaction would be amazing to see, especially since he really is such a daddy to everyone. (And now that episode is going to have strange undertones every time I watch it...)

Yeah, it was weird lol. And it was risky storytelling, throwing in a character who apparently had this grand connection with him. I can see where the impact of her sacrifice would be very anti-climactic. Random people seem to die in his place frequently enough anyway. To be honest about the River/Doctor relationship, at this point if it does end up being romantic I'll be somewhat disappointed because everyone seems to be expecting it. Not that I want it to be some whack-a-doo thing like some of the theories I've seen (child of TenII and Rose really made me go WTF).
