And if you should find quinine, you can make unsweetened tonic water. I found Schweppes Bitter Lemon in Russia that was not nearly as sweet as here.

Joseph Schweppes invented bottled soda water in the 1700s. The pubkeepers stored the bottles upright, the corks dried, and the pressure dropped. Schweppes switched to bottles with round bottoms, so they had to be stored on their sides.
