This post offer my personal opinion on matters which have been far better covered by The Guardian (hence the link), the blogger Jack of Kent, and the bewigged and gallant Learned Gentleman major_clanger.

Meanwhile, we're probably heading for a criminal legal system worse than America's mass-production plea bargaining. It's not well-known, even in the USA, just how egregious and pervasive an injustice that's become. At least: not well-known out in the suburbs; it's known quite well enough in all the housing projects.
