I'm giving very serious thought to moving to Scotland. Not least because there's a good chance they'll be independent in a couple of years time.
My problem is, really, that I've lost all hope. There's no one on the Left who seems capable of fighting back, instead they're all busy turned inwards in their own nasty little civil war. It's not helped by the dearth of talent in the PLP and the party as a whole. Thanks for that Tony Blair. (slow clap)
ETA I'm remembering a thread you started a couple of years back, was it on here or in another place I forget, where you were very serious about learning German &/or setting up analogues of Soviet underground networks etc etc. I hoped it wouldn't happen. But it is. I can't move until I finish this fecking PhD, but it won't be that long really. Right now I genuinely see no future in England's Dreaming - Lydon was right all those years ago wasn't he. Forgive the taste of bitter ashes in my mouth.

Your PhD is your passport. But do, please, get up to speed with basic French and German.

...And Scotland? Ewtikins is starting a PhD in Aberdeen. She could be *my* passport ( ... )
