yuck. i'm taking it you're not at work today then at home care LOL. kinda hard to take calls with no voice! now tell me...what was orientation like besides the classroom stuff? like...did they partner you with someone to shadow for a while or was it just kinda like 'plunk...here's your desk and caseload...here ya go'? do you think you'll try to write off things like oil changes to the car etc? and how is it going? was there any grievances on you getting the position? is it permanent? i'm always worried that even if i do get this position that some old bag will come out of the woodwork and take it from me :(]

no no work...the seniors can't hear anyway...and with me rasping out my words it'd be a gong show. Orienation was pretty dry for the first few days...but then we also covered wound care, ostomy, cardiac, and are going to do HPT soon on different days..what they do is stagger the days over about 2 and 1/2 weeks so you go to orientation one day and the next day your at your site doing a buddy shift...and then class room again. I think you do like between 4-5 buddy shifts all together before they send you out on your own...but all the nurse i was buddied with were awesome they were great at telling me the routine and all of what goes on...and so patient...i couldn't even work the phone for gods sake...and they were all so cool about it. I think you can claim car maintenance on your taxes...not sure though. But overall its going really well...i totally love the fact that the hours are so good, and there is a tonne of help for new people...and even if someones not comfortable doing something i've seen nurses exchanging patients to see...i' ( ... )
