Bit of a concern of Saturday. My GP couldn't feel where the fetal head was and so couldn't rule out a breech position. This is of concern because breech births should go for caesarean section. Obviously I'd rather have a planned caesarean than an emergency caesarean, so I needed to find out if the presentation was in fact breech ( Read more... )

I was born naturally breach and came out fine. Bit of a bruised bum apparently. I know there are complications that can happen with that sort of thing though.

Yay girl!

Apparently there was some study a while ago where they randomised breech presentations to vaginal delivery versus caesarian. The outcomes were better for caesarians so they don't deliver breech births vaginally anymore. Many people think this is a great pity because now none of the new obstetricians have experience in delivering breech births - just theoretical knowledge.

yay. someone to buy girly things for! and someone else to visit on endless maternity leave. I hope the birth thing is quick and painless. And it definately feels better to know that it is facing the right way. These babies are so unpredictable. Both my boys decided that posterior was the way to do it. Hopefully your little girl will know better.

I'm looking forward to seeing you. I've got a car restraint now - but the previous kid was a messy eater so I need to vacuum out all the sultanas and biscuit crumbs.
