--How do you react when you're mad?
A: Just like how a person would normally get mad. I use the usual curse words lol. But I'll just be mad for a moment. And if the guy that made me mad backs off a bit - I'll recover really quick so no worries yeah.

--Have you ever watched one of the members on stage and thought- "Ah man, if only I had his position in the band."?
A: I really like Uruha's. And it's not because his position is more practical or whatnot. Uruha's the kind of guy that always has something to say at times when everyone else is out of ideas. Cos whenever we go into a discussion with "So how are we supposed to do this then?" - I'd find the quickest exit to slip out of it lol.
But then again, being Uruha is too much work! He's really demanding when it comes to expressing himself- so photo checks takes forever. And photo checks with the company president, to me- is really annoying and troublesome hahaha. Ah- I think I said too much. I’ll stop now.

A: I don't know about other bands but all 5 of us are really more like brothers than just band members. By no means am I saying that all 5 of us are always together lol. But when we're sitting close to each other and 2 of us start a conversation, in the end- all 5 will join in the chat.

--Were you always that close from the start?
A: No, close ties such as these takes time to build. Ah- but if its Ruki, Uruha and Reita- yeah. They were close from the start because all 3 were from the same band before. Yeah- during that time I always felt kinda left out lol.

Ruki's MC during Ishikawa encore
Ru: Whenever I feel way too tired after a live, I always blame the encore. So I won’t accept it if all of you go back home walking!! Crawl back home!! (Ruki's MC during Ishikawa encore)

--You've created lots of songs during tours. Do the songs reflect the tour?
U: In a way- yes. Our previous tour was the FC tour, Abyss & Lucy. It was a 2 concept live. We wanted a song that reflects both of the concepts. And so 「SLUDGY CULT」and 「UNTITLED」was created during the tour.
A: One with a violent mood to it, and the other gives off the feel of carefully watching at the sides, seeing what the world has become. I think the 2 concept tour made a big impact on us. It was a great experience.

Ru: On the opening day of out Stacked Rubbish tour, Kai brought his handphone on the stage with him! And he didn't even set it to silent mode!
K: Yeah... I left it near the mixer too, close to the mic...
Ru: But thank god it didn't ring, or else during the MC or whatnot, the mic would've picked up his Kobukuro ringtone lol. But it finally happened when we were promoting the album. It was on a radio show and his phone rang. We all heard his Kobukuro ringtone… We had a live radio show before that and Kai had his phone in his pocket the whole time, not in silent mode. What the hell man! Not funny!

--I think you could just laugh it off if it happened during radio shows, but if Kai's phone rang during a ballad song on stage....
Ru: Oh man! If Kai's phone rang on stage during a ballad song then we'd see a guitar fly right at him lol

Re: Let me tell you about my crazy birthday night (2007). We finished recording Stacked Rubbish on 27th May. So that night, everyone was drinking like mad!! It was awful...
A: Hahaha yes it was!
Re: Everyone was all YAY FREEDOM!! and went on a drinking fest and went wild.... :( it was just too much for me. Ah, I don’t think I can talk about it here- it was just too crazy...
A: We kissed the sound engineer, and totally wrecked the table top kinda crazy, right?
Re: And all those bottles and glasses we smashed.
U: I can't remember a thing from that night...
Re: You were crazy! You were the king of the drunks!
A: As soon as Uruha said "Tequila", I knew that the party is doomed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Gigs Bass Drums Book 2011
Re: the GazettE was 1 year old and our drummer quit. Ruki was pushing us to accept Kai as the new drummer. Eventually I joined a session band live with Kai @ Uwasa Narcissus live house. But our first greeting was not rocking at all! I only said "Good Morning" to him.
K: Eh? You said that when we met at the live house entrance?
Re: Yeah yeah
K: I didn't think I said anything. Ruki did the introductions. He was like "This is our bassist". And I went "Ah- Hey"
Re: Noo- you dint say anything. If you did, then I didn't year you lol.
K: And even tho Reita looked like he cared about all this... I still thought he looked like a bad person lol
Re: We had another rehearsal before the live. And Kai said "Can't you play the bass while facing me?" I was like "This is baaadd" haha!
K: The bassist in my previous band always plays facing me. So it kinda became a habit of mine. I feel calm if I'm face to face with the bassist!
Re: But we were doing rehearsals! Live shows are supposed to be spontaneous! I thought, maan this guy’s such a pain. Lol
K: …Sorry hehe. Well I thought Reita was so full of himself. He was wearing some laid back clothes & I was like, is he really a visual kei guy?
Re: At that time VK peeps wear those leather, studs & stuff, right? But it was summer! I was wearing torn jeans, a singlet and an aloha shirt lol

--What did you think of Reita's bass playing skill when you first met?
K: I wonder. At that time, all I had on my mind was his bad attitude. I remember what he was like when we first met, but I can’t seem to remember how he played the bass. But then again, at that time I can’t really tell between a good bassist and a bad one.
Re: Kai played the drums barefoot! And he held his drumsticks the wrong side up! And what hit me the most was his makeup! It looked like his face was bruised lol. Cos I like unique and random people like him, I thought maan he's cool. haha! He's great but I don’t like his attitude lol.

--I guess Kai's shyness kinda backfired on him on that day, eh? So what happened when you joined the band?
K: The former drummer's style and mine was totally different. I tried to do some tricks to kinda follow the former drummer’s style but I failed. I was really worried that they'd ask me to kinda follow the former drummer's style. But I want my own style to appeal out to them too.
Re: Even tho Kai's style was different from our former drummer, we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. When Kai joined, I thought ,"I like this kind of band, this is our drummer". Oh yeah. 5 months after Kai joined the band he suddenly suffered hearing loss! If it happened now, we would've cancelled the lives but our management at that time wouldn't let us cancel it haha. So then, we had to beg our former drummer to play with us for 4-5 lives. It was a hard time for us. We already have Kai but we had to play with the former drummer once more. I kept on thinking that it was going to be awkward. And stuff like ,"Do I have to restart my relationship with Kai again? "

--And your last song is OMEGA...
A: That’s not how you pronounce it! It's supposed to be "Oh My God".
Re: No man, its OMG.
--Eh? Really?
Re: Hell no- we're just messing with ya. Just ignore us when we act like this lol

*****

--TOXIC is a super cool album!
K: Yeap lol.
Re: Thank you very much! A: It's impossible for us to make anything uncool hahaha!

*****

--When I listened to TOXIC and got to the end, OMEGA, I could feel that "Ah, this is the end, eh?". But I had TOXIC on repeat so it replayed INFUSE INTO. Somehow listening INFUSE INTO after OMEGA made me feel like I was reborn once more!
U: Ah yes! Me too! I felt the same way too! It’s amazing how both of these songs have such emotional connection to each other!
