I'm starting my portfolio building with my collection of rings. I really need a better digital camera to document my stuff... everything's really blurry

i don't think it's your camera, you just need to adjust the Macro

it actually might be the camera...

most cameras have a minimum subject distance.

A lot of cameras have to have their subject at least 12" away before they'll focus correctly.
