Summary: Shunsui and Juushiro have been at a lake all day and are just laying back and relaxing. Something is on Juushiro's mind and he doesn't quite know how to express it.
Author's Notes: Written for my 100 Situations table featuring Shunsui and Juushiro of Bleach. Note: This is set in the past and both Shunsui and Juushiro are both in the 9th division. Shunsui is 7th seat and Juushiro is 9th seat. Shunsui has achieved shikai, while Juushiro hasn't.
Mild rays, blazing sun. Droplets of water glistened on their chests, looking strikingly similar to diamonds in a sense. Nature around them seemed to be playing the pair a symphony as they gazed up at the clouds, picturing animals that they only dreamt of. The tiny, fresh cut blades of grass tickled their skin as they swayed idly against the soft breeze. It was just the two of them, as it had been all afternoon.
"Wonderful weather," uttered the more masculine of the two. Eyes closed, a line of wheat resting between his closed lips, "I could lie here forever."
If only they could. Thoughts racing back and forth in his brain. Thoughts he should not be having about his higher ranking officer. The yearning to let his feelings in the open was reaching its boiling point with each rise and fall of his chest. Was this really the time to be doing this?
"Shunsui, I..." The smaller, white haired Shinigami spoke this time. His voice more subtle, and timid than the other. He was always being hassled about not taking enough risks. There couldn't have been a better time. But how would Kyouraku respond to something like this?
"You don't have to say it." That all too familiar grin was now plastered on his face. He must have known. He always knew.
