Ummm...no.

I'm not upgrading to a paid LJ, and I'm also not going to be blocked from going to see my journal until I view a pop up ad. kthxbai.

I guess I'll deal with Facebook until they make me pay for that, too.

Ugh. LiveJournal's been progressively getting worse that way, removing the Basic free journals some time back. This journal used to be a Basic one, but I caved in for the extra user pics. I sometimes regret that now.

Anyway, I use Firefox as my browser and run NoScript and AdBlocker Plus, so I never see these popups or ads that others do. Perhaps that might help?

I can't see myself posting my long wall of text whinges on Facebook for a number of reasons.

This exactly, Firefox with NoScript and AdBlocker are definitely the way to go.

Yeah, that's what I have and didn't even know about the ads. :( Sorry.

(I also caved for the extra user images. :p)

Agreed about facebook. It has a number of security and user agreement issues so being cautious with what you post on there is fairly prudent.

Just keep in mind that anything you post or upload to facebook becomes their property. So they could sell a picture of you for advertising purposes and there is nothing you can do about it.

I use adblockers and flashblockers, and am always taken aback when I realize that most people don't.

Even if you don't use Firefox you can simply click the X up in the corner of the pop-up advertisement window to close the ad. I felt the same way until I realized this.
