"How many times do I have to tell you, I'm alright Jason." She was becoming annoyed with him at this point. The constant pestering about what was wrong with her was getting out of hand.
"I know. I just want to make sure. You seem... different today. I don't know." He was only looking out for her. But if she didn't have anything to say, he wasn't going to push it any further. "Do you want to go get something to eat?" He was trying to lighten the mood. In fact, their first date after the incident was them going out to get a bite to eat.
"Not right now. I don't feel like moving." She was avoiding telling him something. She was trying to hide it but whatever it was was just too much for her to keep in.
"Look Stephanie, I know you saw Tim yesterday. And you know what? I don't give a fuck if you still love him, okay? I entered this relationship with you knowing that. You don't have to shut me out." His voice echoed throughout the room. He was shouting now.
"It's not just that---"
"And you don't have to keep beating yourself up." All he wanted was for her to own up to her feelings. He knew that had to be it. And yes, he was a little bothered by it, but he loved her enough to deal with it.
"I'm sorry, Jason. I..." A single tear rolled down the side of her cheek. She didn't want to feel this way about Tim. She didn't ask to feel this way about Tim. Jason was everything that she needed. Everything that she wanted in a man, he gave her.
"Please. Just hush." He dropped to his knees in front of her, wrapping his arms around her waist, tears streaming down. He had never felt like this about anyone before. He was completely vulnerable and he hated it. But what was he to do? He was in love and he cared about this woman. And she cared about him too.
"Jason, just..."
"No... shh..." He was calming down now, bringing his voice down to an almost silent whisper. "Let's just be quiet for now."
