1. simon d - 에헤이 (eh hey) (feat. 조휴일 Of 검정치마) ; woogyu
It’s a Friday night and Woohyun’s enjoying some downtime. He's seated at his favourite bar, swirling the whiskey around his glass, when he feels a gust of wind, and he turns around to see the door open and a boy walk in.
Woohyun smirks as a the boy makes his way into the entrance, looking left and right, nibbling on his lip. It’s dark, and the dim lighting casts shadows across the boy’s face. He’s hugging his arms as he walks into the thick air of the evening. It is pretty chilly.
“Just a moment,” Woohyun mutters to Dongwoo, who’s grabbing a drink at the bar next to him. Dongwoo smiles, waves him off, and Woohyun leaves his seat.
He walks towards the boy. Their eyes meet, and there's a flicker of recognition in the boy's eyes.
“Hey,” Woohyun says, the right corner of his lip lifted slightly. The boy smiles warily. He looks kind of -- really -- nervous.
“First time here?”
2. u-kiss - light it up ; yadong
Japan is different to what they were expecting.
The hotel rooms are no different to what they’d find in Seoul, but the atmosphere is different. There are no crazy fans stalking them around everywhere, taking pictures in front of their dorm -- they can have a bit of freedom here.
Infinite have just finished their schedules, and for the first time in a long while, they’re given a bit of free time. Half an hour, their manager tells them. Half an hour, and you have to come back.
There are Christmas decorations up on the windows of shops as Dongwoo and Hoya make their way down the Tokyo street, wearing stupid animal masks which cover the lower half of their face just in case. The sun’s peering over the horizon, and the sky is streaked with pink and purple and golden light. It’s about eight minutes to sunset, Dongwoo calculates, squinting his eyes.
“Hyung, look,” Hoya murmurs to Dongwoo, pointing at a string of unlit Christmas lights in the shop window. It’s in the shape of a Santa, and Dongwoo smiles.
Suddenly, the lights flicker on, and Dongwoo jumps back, startled, and Hoya laughs at him. The lights are shimmering, brilliant, and Dongwoo doubles over in laughter as Hoya poses next to the window, mimicking the expression on the electric Santa's face.
3. park sae eun - 그리 쉽게 이별을 말하지 말아요 (don’t talk about breakups so easily) ; myungyeol/infinite
Infinity is only ten years.
It’s ironic, really, Sungyeol thinks as he packs his bags and drags his luggage out the dorm. Ten years is like a blink of the eye in terms of infinity. They're supposed to be Infinite -- what happened?
The other members are waiting outside. They’re all mute; there are no words to be said. Ten years, ending like this, because Myungsoo -- the first one in -- wants out. The silence is long, heavy, and it’s awkward. Sungyeol’s sure there are plenty of unshared, unspoken thoughts, but now's not the right time.
“So,” Sungyeol starts. “I guess this is it.”
And then Myungsoo turns around, grabs his bags, and leaves.
3. angela aki - we dance ; twowoo
Dongwoo loves to dance. It’s written into his body -- he moves with a fluidity that can’t be emulated, with the freedom of the wind. Woohyun likes to watch the boy when he’s in the practise room, lost in the music. It’s beautiful, he thinks, the way Dongwoo’s face lights up when he’s moving across the dancefloor, hitting the beats, sneakers squeaking on the wood.
Woohyun doesn’t like to dance, but he has to. Idols dance, he tells himself, they dance and sing and look perfect and smile for the camera. He trips over his feet and falls on his face the first time he attempts to do the shuffle, and the other trainees snigger and point at him. He’s never been so embarrassed before, and he mutters curses at them as he feels hot tears welling up in his eyes.
“Don’t mind them,” Dongwoo says, sitting next to him after the others leave the room. Dongwoo doesn’t laugh at him, like the others. He laughs with him, and pats his back, and comforts him. Woohyun looks up. Dongwoo has streams of sweat trickling down his forehead, and a brilliant toothy grin plastered on his face.
“What can I do?” Woohyun asks him, a tear trickling down his left cheek, and without breaking his goofy smile, Dongwoo extends a hand.
“We dance.”
5. loveholics - 몰라야 할 말 (Play 아림) (The words I shouldn't know) ; sunggyu
Sunggyu listens to music when he can’t stand reality. It takes him into a different world, where he can just close his eyes and pick out the harmonies and minor chords and admire the slight vibrato in the singer’s voice and how there’s a faint dissonance in the seventh-note that plays in the background.
No one else understands him -- he tries to play Nell in the dorm, Clazziquai, Loveholics, but the members just look at him stony faced. It’s nice, they tell him, but they can’t feel the same emotions he does when he listens.
6. soul dive - mad scientist & sweet monsters ; woosoo
Woohyun’s done it.
He’s finally done it; months of hard work and research and digging up graves have finally paid off. A flash of lightning splits the sky in half, as if in congratulations, and he smiles to himself. It’s a godly feat.
The creature lying on the operating table in front of him is perfect. Smooth skin, luminous black hair, pink lips, defined collarbones, and long, black eyelashes. Woohyun takes a step back. It's perfect.
The creature stirs and awakens. It sits up, looking around the dank room, and blinks twice.
“What’s my name?” the creature asks, face blank, emotionless, and Woohyun beams.
“Myungsoo. You’re called Myungsoo.”
7. hong kyung min - run (duet with 신소희) (rap feat. 장근이) ; 2hyun
There are times when Hyunseung wants to run from it all. There’s too much pressure on him, and he’s positively miserable when he has to board the plane three times within twenty-four hours to fly to three different continents. He’s meant to be able to handle it -- he says that his resolve’s strengthened after his rejection from Big Bang and recruitment into Beast, at least in interviews -- but he’s human after all.
He sneaks out of the dorm one night. He tells the others he’s just out getting some fresh air, but he’s ready to escape. For how long he doesn’t know -- it’ll probably be a temporary trip to his dance hyung's place, but all the same.
“Where are you going?” a voice behind him startles him, and he turns to see Hyuna, in her blue pajamas, hair mussed up from sleep.
“Just, getting some air,” he murmurs, but there’s a flash of knowing in Hyuna’s eyes.
8. 4minute - heart to heart ; jindeul
Junghwan doesn’t like being called Junghwan. There are bad memories associated with that name. Fat Junghwan. Glasses Junghwan. Junghwan the nerd, fish-lips Junghwan, horse-teeth Junghwan. He much prefers being called Sandeul onstage, in front of the camera -- it’s lighthearted, innocent, and playful, and it suits B1A4’s concept.
Jinyoung likes being called Jinyoung. He’s comfortable with who he is, and he’s proud of the name that his parents have given him. Sure he wasn’t the brightest at school, but nonetheless he doesn’t try to hide his past from the camera.
It’s the MTV interview which makes Jinyoung realise that Junghwan’s more uncomfortable with his past than he lets on.
“Let’s talk,” Jinyoung murmurs to Sandeul -- Junghwan -- after the recording, and Junghwan turns to face away from him. “You’re upset, aren’t you?”
“No,” Junghwan lies, even as he’s surreptitiously wiping the tears from his eyes. “I’m fine.”
Jinyoung just sighs and pulls him into a hug.
"Whenever you feel like it," he murmurs into Junghwan's hair, and Junghwan nods.
9. t-ara - one & one ; sooseob
In front of his members, Soohyun must be strong. He’s been handed the responsibility of the leader, and as the leader, he has to lead U-KISS to number one. It’s been their -- his -- only wish ever since their debut, which was, he recalls with a grimace, over three years ago.
“It’s not working,” he mutters to himself in the recording studio one day. The rest of the group are recording inside the studio, and he sits behind the sound control panel and watches them through the glass.
There's movement next to him, and he turns to see Kiseop seated next to him, a smile on his face.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, and Soohyun just shakes his head.
10. ibadi - 그리움 (yearning) ; sumin
Suhoon throws his head back onto the mirror as Hyunmin runs his tongue over his ear. He groans, and wraps his arms around the nape of his neck, hitching himself up onto Hyunmin’s waist. Hyunmin grunts and loops his arms behind Suhoon’s back, hands travelling under the boy’s shirt and tracing circles onto the skin of his back.
Hyunmin yearns for Suhoon’s touch. He presses his mouth against Suhoon’s, lips parting slightly to let Suhoon’s tongue in, and it’s wonderful, and everything he's ever wanted.
“I want you,” Suhoon whispers into Hyunmin’s ear as they break apart, head burying into his shoulder, tongue on his neck, and Hyunmin doesn’t doubt him.
