It's funny the hierarchy of friendship that has developed into my life. There are the peple that I used to hang out with, and have long since passed out of my life almost completely, there are the people that I wish I hung out with all the time, but want nothing to do with me, and then there are the people who I do hang out with, usually for the ( Read more... )

You could burn the mp3's to a DVD-R or -RW, if you have one. Those things hold absurd amounts of data. Or just some reg'lur ol' CD-R's.

I've been buying a lot, too, lately. It must be the summer and having little else to do (and enough money to spend on anything, period).

Have fun in the class! Playing for kids, no matter what their mental capacity, is always fun. What is the "stuff you learned" that you think you'll play?

DVD-Rs, eh? I don't think I have any, but I'll look around. One CD would certainly be more useful than many!

Also, about the "stuff," last summer I interned with the music therapists at Alternatives for Children, a local special-ed preschool. By the end, they were letting me do a lot on my own with the kids, so I learned all the songs/techniques that they used...some of them are kid songs everyone knows, a lot of it is stuff they wrote/adapted to teach certain things, (i.e. sharing, taking turns, or more simple things, like follow-the leader and content recall.)
The problem is, then I was working with kids ranging from one to five years old, many of them with really severe disabilities. My sister and her class are all fairly high-functioning 12- and 13-year-olds. I'm not sure how much of it they're really gonna enjoy...
