As an American citizen who hasn't had health insurance since I was a child (at least 10 years) - I must admit I am not concerned about what Obama will do on that front. To people like me, it can't possibly get any worse - and it just *might* get better.. Of course, I'd love to be able to afford coverage, but most of the jobs I've had that offered ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm all about anything that keeps people from eating antibiotics like candy! I know a lot of the homeopathic cold/flu/allergy treatments are supposed to be some of the most effective.

I had insurance from the time the boy was born (medicaid then and employer subsidized insurance when I worked at the factories) up until I started my own business. I was without insurance for a year and just thank goodness none of us got super sick or had to go to the ER except that one time Ian's friend Phillip accidentally shot him in the forehead with that BB gun.
I have health insurance right now, but the deductible is crazy high because that's the only way I could afford the monthly payments. It'll help if one of us gets hit by a bus or has to be hospitalized for something super bad, but it doesn't really help with migraine meds or doctor visits for sinus infections or my yearly brain scan to make sure my head's not about to explode, etc. so fuck all. I might as well have nothing. I'd be happy for a tax credit of some sort.

The one good thing about the bux is good cheap insurance. But I rarely even used it when I had it and Sythe's insurance won't cover my because we aren't married, so lame.

Having insurance in this country doesn't always mean your visits will be paid. My last job paid my entire premium (around 400 a month) I still was in the hole 3 grand. The insurance companies will make up any excuse in the book to not pay a claim. I think they're all fraudulent companies. I now pay $90 a month pre-tax and have better coverage than I have ever had in my life. I know to call before going in to make sure that it will be covered.

My parents are about to retire and my mom is diabetic, their new monthly insurance costs are half of what they'll be bringing in with social security. I am glad that prescription drugs are now only $4 for a thirty day supply otherwise I don't how they'd survive.
