SUMMER ORIENTATION 2005!

I found that my orientation was an even blend of the experiences of both FJ (who said it "sucked balls") and CW (who said it was "impossible to not have fun"). I think I was having fun mainly because I enjoyed being in AA, and I was miserable only because it was so HOT. IT WAS HOT. HOT. HOT. HOT. HOT. HOT. HOT. RIDICULOUSLY HOT.

I know it was, that's why I included it. I was distinctly trying to show that I don't know so much myself, and that for ME - it was eye opening. How odd it is that so many of my friends seem to have the same stereotype (based mostly on C-A preps). Of course, I don't have many prep friends myself... thus I wouldn't know. I wasn't saying that it was right to think of preps that way, because it isn't - I was trying to show that.

And perhaps also I should mention that we may have different definitions of what it means to be a prep. I'm not merely talking about the way a person dresses...

For me, I generally just think of pot heads as preps... and it is more in the area of a bored suburban teen wasting their life away. I realize that perhaps you don't think of preps this way, and that's why I used that term with a disclaimer (i.e. for lack of a better word) because I'm not really sure how to describe the people I was talking about - thus I used a term that most people I know use.

Another popular definition of preps at UM that I have heard from actual UM students is "rich snobby kids using up their trust funds."

No stereotypes are okay, of course... but as far as what you're thinking, what I'm thinking may be different.

I have to admit, I am a little jealous that you are getting the traditional college experience that I will be deprived of by staying home for school. However, I don't think I would enjoy living in dorms, I'd miss the comforts of home too much.
