Hey, I'm not posting this on chrnocrusade because I don't want to be mean or start a flame war. But I have to get this out of my system, guys.

Chrono Crusade is getting reprinted in Japan with all-new covers! This is exciting! So I'm already freaking out about this.

But guess what I saw on the new cover? Take a look.

...Even though I haven't even watched/read this canon that still made me LOL. XDXD

(Yes, I know the whole thing about the copyright violation and how they had to change it and all that, so I get it. XP)

XDDDD The Chrno/Chrono debate has been continuing for...forever, so. It's like the Ahiru/Duck debate, only siller since...it's just one letter and was likely only caused by a mistake anyway.

But O how the battles rage and will probably continue to rage, flaming O or no.

Is...is it really a mistake? Obviously I wouldn't know better, but I thought I heard that the reason it was spelled Chrno was that there was a corporation (in Japan only, which was why there were no problems in R1...?) with a claim on the Chrono with their logo, so to avoid copyright issues they had to make it different somehow and so they just took out an O?

...But that's just what I heard, so maybe someone was pulling stuff out of their my leg or something o_o

I've heard that rumor, too, that it was either to avoid copyright or just avoid confusion with the Chrono Trigger series (although it STILL does anyway, when I edit TV Tropes I have to move Chrono Crusade examples out of Video Games sometimes because people automatically assume it's part of the series). But apparently someone asked the mangaka about it at a con, and he sheepishly admitted that it had been his mistake.

I don't have a direct source for either version, though, just a lot of second-hand stuff. That being said, though, if it was really because of a copyright problem with Chrono Trigger, I'm sure that would still be active because that's a hugely popular game that Square-Enix still holds the rights to. They probably still wouldn't be able to put the "O" in if it was a copyright issue. So I'm guessing the "Moriyama made a mistake" story is the correct one.

*o* Pretty cover! I'd always wondered if the mangaka intentionally spelled Chrono's name minus an "o", but I guess it really was a typo that just got perpetuated because someone *cougheditorcough* forgot to check his Japanese-English dictionary before letting the manga go to print. XD;;

Yeees, they're both really pretty--although the older ones were a lot more detailed, so I sorta miss those, too. (...But I own the original English editions, so I mean...It's not like the old ones are gone. XD)

Apparently, what someone dug up for me while I was...having a tiny debate over this on the comm, is that poor Moriyama-sensei actually spelled it wrong himself when he made the logo, and it wasn't caught until the first volume was printed, and at that point he was just sorta stuck with Chrno. Poor guy.

LOL....XD That'd probably be more useful with Satella, though, since people note her accent and not Fiore/Florette's...in the anime she even doesn't have an accent after she's killed or...brainwashed or whatever the heck anime!Aion did.

Poor Moriyama was really taking a while to save up for that O.
But he saved up enough he was even able to get the extra flames package.

Yeah, um...I'm...still trying to figure out the cell phone thing. It's gotta be some demon technology they've hijacked or something. How do you even explain it to people? "Oh, don't worry, if you need to get a hold of me you can just call me on the phone attached to the box I keep strapped to my back. No, really, I'll get it. I'm not crazy, I swear."

*nod* I think a lot of the Order's stuff is probably based on demon technology, actually. Just...screwed around with by the Elder (which is maybe part of the reason why Chrono doesn't know anything about how it works--besides the fact that he seems to completely tune Shader out whenever she tries to teach him about computers).

ffff me, too. XD;;; It's just so...unpronounceable. I'm glad they decided to switch it to the correct spelling.
