Name: Severus Snape
Nicknames: Half-blood Prince (himself), Sev (Lilly), Snivellus (Sirius + the marauders), Greasy Git (anyone that dislikes him enough), Snape (Anyone)
Birthday: January 9th
Age: 16
School Year: Sixth

Which House: Slytherin
Reasoning? It’s cannon. And he really can be a biased git sometimes.

Appearance: Thin with long, unevenly cut, greasy, black hair and sickly looking pale skin. Snape (for those rare times anyone from the school sees him not in uniform) dresses very poorly, wearing what seems to be completely mismatched (and often miss-sized) scrounged odds and ends. Snape’s uniform however is well maintained, worn properly and with great pride.

Personality: Severus is proud, intelligent, stubborn, hardworking, and… too opinionated and biased about things for his own good. He holds a grudge and gives back twice the hatred he receives from anyone. He’s also not likely to change his mind about hating you once he’s decided to. Thanks to his somewhat unpleasant appearance and biased judgmental nature… he’s not the sort of person most people want to be around. Severus has a tendency to be socially awkward, hiding his true feelings so much sometimes that even when he does do something nice (which is rare), he still looks like a villain for it.

For those very VERY few that get anywhere close to Severus’s heart and manage to stay there, he is dead loyal to them, knowing people like that don’t come around every day (at least not for him). Though his heart has nothing to do with it, Severus is currently very stubbornly, very loyally a Slythern. Despite his capacity for such loyalty, Severus has few real friends… most of the people that ‘hang out with him’ only do so because they’ve seen how ‘useful’ a person he can be.

Severus seems to hold an innate grudge against most Gryffindors. As for the other houses, you’re either Slytherin or you aren’t. Severus enjoys getting the people he dislikes in trouble. If you’re a Gryffindor and he even suspects you’re planning to break a rule he’ll watch you like a hawk. If he catches you breaking a rule he’ll be MORE then happy to turn you in to whomever he thinks will give you the harshest punishment. Though he’s been known to do the odd bit of shady business himself (the odd curse here and there) he’s always careful to make sure not one can prove it.

In his free time Snape can be found studying in the library (or Slytherin common room), in the potions lab, or prowling the hallways, either alone or with some of his fellow Slyths.

Extra:
--Snape is practically a genius at potions… limited more by time and materials then by ability.
--He a good duelist, knows more curses then some people could imagine, and has actually discovered an offensive spell or two while at Hogwarts.
--Snape has some talent towards Legilimency and Occlumency… with particular emphasis on the latter… though far from a master of either, it serves to make him a hard to read individual who has a knack for sensing when he’s being lied to… if not quite what about.
--When it comes to school and magic, Snape is a very hard, very dedicated worker who does well in his classes.

Blood Status: Half-blood
History: Severus Snape is a Half-blood wizard born to a witch (Eileen Prince, his mother) and a Muggle (Tobias Snape, his father). He grew up in the same run down little town his father spent his entire life in… in a small brick house at the end of its street. Though his childhood friend, Lilly Evans, is likely the only one that has been anywhere near his house it is the common suspicion among his Slytherin dorm mates and confidants that his home life is bad… while Severus doesn’t deny it (and Lilly might confirm whatever she knows about it) he doesn’t like talking about it either. It’s likely no one outside near-his-year Slytherins (and those that have reason to ask Lilly) knows anything about his home life, after all he has enough pride and skill for even the snobs to respect, and he keeps his uniform very well maintained.

Snape’s greatest pride in life is that he is a Wizard, which (along with Snape’s tendency to either dislike or dismiss Muggles) made Slytherin the house for him. His biases have only gotten worse since his sorting. Also he seems to have a grudge against most Gryffindors… particularly hating ‘those bloody marauders’ and any of their friends (except Lilly).

Though their friend ship is either rocky-at-best (or possibly even non-existent right now), Severus loves and always will love Lilly Evans.
