Revelations Cycle Thirteenth Iteration: The Trickster Blues

Sep 02, 2011 03:36

The first few chapters of this act are going to be profoundly non-linear, but I trust you all to be able to keep up. Hopefully delays of the sort recently experienced will not happen again, lolol.

You're back! Hooray!
I just want to say that I love this fic to death, I really do, and I'm super happy to see you writing again. (:
Now only if I ever wrote anything...

bluh. my heart. it aches. Reira, why do you do this? by which I mean keep doing it, suffering is good for the soul, go go go.

I'm a little curious why Jadite didn't expound on The Devil card, honestly! I can understand why she was cagey about showing Jawwhn The Death, since he could very easily freak out and misunderstand, even if she did explain (first impressions and all that), but why not explain The Devil?

Oh hi huge spoilers, nice to see you yet again. half_life_wolf September 14 2011, 19:36:03 UTC
It's really only going to get worse from here, I'm afraid. This fic is about kids and fun what would ever make you think otherwise.

Rule one of being a fortune teller: explain nothing. But no seriously, the reason is half that I didn't want to reveal all of my own cards this early in the act, and half that there are two possibilities for who or what the Devil card represents, both of them have the potential to cause catastrophic destruction, and Jadite has already (here is where the spoilers come in) foreseen her own death by one of them and Daevid's by the other. Both of these things are inevitable and fated, and telling Jawwhn about them would only freak him out unnecessarily.

(end spoilers.)

Also she wasn't so much cagey about showing Jawwhn the Death card as she got sidetracked by her kind-of-sort-of matesprit coming back from an important meeting with their insane seadweller friend. She definitely would have explained the hell out of that one if she'd stuck around.

I'm pretty sure that around 80 or 90% of this fic is going right over my head, and I really don't like suffering and bad ends, but I can't stop reading anyway.
I love the mythology. I love how the coyote has "open and blatant guile" in his eyes, because that line encompasses the way I see Vriska perfectly... but then the coyote turns out not to be Vriska? So over my head, but I don't care!
Also, "Karl" and "Solomon" are two main characters from Blood+, but I'm pretty sure that's a coincidence. Right?

It may enthuse you to learn that everyone gets a happy ending, then! ...Eventually. By my estimation we're just over the halfway mark now, maybe a little less, and things aren't going to get any better for awhile yet.

Coyote's stuff will hopefully become clear in Jawwhn's next POV chapter! Though, no, he's not Vriska. John prototyped Vriska's soul dice, making her his sprite, but since someone wiped the disk of her memory, the sprite was incompatible and imploded. There will be more on that later too, but I can see how it would be easy to miss.

That is indeed a coincidence, but Blood+ is a pretty good show regardless.

That is SO good to know! Thank you so much for the explanation and the spoilers. I love spoilers and am a lot less lost now!
