Did you know that when you change your flat alloy tyre on a Mercedes A class for the steel rimmed spare tyre the dealer provided with the car, that the extra long bolts from the alloy now poke through the new tyre far enough to start shredding your brake disks and locking your wheel in place with now bent bolts ( Read more... )

At the moment I'm just glad it wasn't my fault and that I'd changed the tyre wrong, because that's what I was dreading.

Relief will turn to anger though. Oh yes.

So presumably this glaring design flaw will be repaired free of charge by Mercedes?

Well 'they' picked it up this morning and said that a steel rim spare is standard but it should have had documents and short bolts with it and they are going to talk to the dealer who sold it to me.

There has been no talk of charge yet so I suspect it'll be a no fault on either side free fix.
