Caliban sometimes wonders when the universe will get tired of throwing him curveballs. Sometimes. (And then he remembers that 'never' is probably a safe bet.) And this is going to be his fault, too, just you wait, though he supposes Niko will probably just be relieved that he made it out of that fucking pit-)

All of this in the fraction of a moment ( Read more... )

Sam has seen a lot of bizarre things in his life, and he likes to think that he's mostly ready for anything, but he was completely unprepared for a body falling out of some weird-looking hole that opened up on the ceiling and landing on the empty bed in his motel room.

He'd called Dean and been told that he was dragging his brother down, making him week, and Dean wasn't going to help him deal with being Lucifer's vessel. After he'd hung up, he'd pulled into the first motel he saw and got a room with two beds - old habits are hard to break - and he'd basically just been staring at the wall until mystery man fell out of the sky and brought a ridiculously bad smell with him.

Sam was on his feet in an instant, gun drawn as he moved towards the figure, who was staring at the ceiling as they tried to catch their breath. "Who are you and what did you just do?" he barked out, flicking a glance at the now-empty ceiling.

Oh, fuck balls, Cal thinks, as his head was just starting to clear and now someone is getting all - oh shit, gun. Which is what Cal registers before anything else, really, ears still ringing with the aftermath of- whatever that was.

Which made his next move reflex, even before his breath had fully returned. He rolled off the bed to the other side and landed neatly in a crouch, using the bed as a shield. Did manage to put his hands up instead of reaching for a gun, though.

"Whoa, Jesus! Watch where you're pointing that thing," trying to do a good imitation of confused and alarmed. Not actually that hard. He was both.

"You just fell out of a freaky hole in the ceiling," Sam says, not relaxing an inch, "And haven't actually answered either of my questions." The mud-covered figure is definitely a young man who looks to be about 20, and Sam has to appreciate his reflexes. His age doesn't make Sam drop his guard, though; he knows how deadly people can be regardless of age.

Caliban looks up at the ceiling, but there's no sign of the gateway that he apparently knew how to make all this time. Maybe that's how he got out of Tumulus after all. He always kind of assumed that his relatives got sick of him or something. But in retrospect, that doesn't really make that much sense. "Your ceiling looks fine to me," Cal says, before thinking better of being a wise-ass to the guy with a gun pointed at him. "---uh. Doesn't sound familiar, sorry."

Shit. Niko's going to think he's dead. Shit shit shit. Need to get out of here, to a phone- "Anyway, sorry about the mess, I should probably just-" he gestures toward the door.
