It works pretty well, and supports many OS's, including Linux). Wait a bit, as v. 3.0 is coming soon, which will also support gaming (the current Parallels doesn't have DirectX). I use Parallels so I can run Framemaker and WebWorks for work.

Okay, that's good to know. I'm still on my old computer, so I'm sure that by the time I get it replaced, the new version will be out. Or failing that, I'll be able to wait until close to the start of next semester, since I won't be needing it until then.

I saw in their FAQs that they have a maintenance option that you can buy that makes all upgrades "free" for a year. Do you think that's worth the money? It looks like it'd add an additional $16 to the price of Parallels since they said it costs 20% of the full product cost.

Yes, definitely. Parallels comes out with a new version often enough, and they had an update this year that was well worth the installation.

I'll be paying about $40 for the upgrade so I can play games. Since NONE of my Mac games from pre-Intel work, it's worth the upgrade so at least I can play my Windows games.

Okay, thank you for all the information. I'm planning on buying it once I get a new computer.
