It's been a while. There's lots of stuff that's been going on, but I probably won't write about all of it because some of it isn't even my story to tell.

I finished the national asthma educator exam (I suspect a 70% chance of passing) after a halloween that was mildly exciting, but mostly just tiring. Adrian handed out candy while I worked on random ( Read more... )

Hooray for Ottawa and Montreal! Two of my favourite places. When you're in Montreal you have to climb the mountain, I know it's lame, but it's very satisfying and the view can't be beat. Look for the warped birch near the top on the north side. Casa Del Popolo is a great vegetarian restaurant to eat at, good food, pretty cheap and good portions and they are a venue in the evenings. All of the museums and art galleries are worth going to. Street shops on St. Laurent and Ave Mont-Royal are both interesting. And of course wander around downtown for the architecture and near the universities for the fashion ( ... )

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm hoping it'll be good weather and I'll be up for going up the mountain in Montreal--the baby might veto it, but I'm sure going to try!

Yeah, Adrian and I thought the National Gallery and Science museum would be good places to try as well--the science museum looked a little less kid-oriented than other science museums we've been to, which would be a nice change (I'd rather learn something than just get a review of grade 8 science!). We'll have to take a gander for the circus since I haven't seen it listed on any of the places we've been doing searches...

We're heading out mid-late Nov, so sadly probably no skating and unfortunately all the cool tours of Ottawa are not running. There was a "spy tour" that I was all psyched up about that takes you to Diefenbunker, but it looks like we'll just have to self-tour the spy end of things. I wonder if CSIS would accomodate us ;)

Ottawa is wonderful. I love just walking around the parliment buildings and taking the tour. Of course, last time we were there I was at meetings all day, and Julian took a 4 month old Hana around.

I haven't been to Montreal for a long long time, but I do remember it being fun. No specifics though!

None of the tours that are running in fall seem all that great--they're just walking tours and we could probably get the same out of a self-tour brochure. It's too bad, really...

We might do a combined birthday thing again this year, but it'll depend how the trip goes since we may need a few days to recover. I'm really looking forward to someday being able to go on a vacation that's NOT in November :P Stupid seniority...
