ONE LAST STAND AT ALAMO, BRO!

Sep 19, 2007 15:38

I am pretty much over the tasering incident. I'm agreeing to disagree. I'm sick of googling news articles, youtubing all the different angled shots, and wiki-ing crimes and civil disobedience.

My last statement on this topic is as follows, and after this, I will no longer respond to this topic. It does not deserve my attention. This sort of thing ( Read more... )

1. Don't complain about there being too much coverage of this on LiveJournal and then make a long post about it. (And then call me and tell me to read it.)

2. We know police are allowed to use Tasers. I'm saying the rules (which are vague) are incorrect. They shouldn't have used the Taser at that point because I don't think someone already subdued by six officers is a threat to anyone. Just because something is a law or rule doesn't make it right. Slavery was within the law. Gay marriage is still against the law in many places.

3. You're bringing in issues outside the scope of the argument (his prior antics, acting too dramatically). We're not allowed to decide whether or not someone gets abused by police based on how much we like that person.

I can't add anything to what you are saying, other than, at 30, I clearly remember the Rodney King beating. The same arguments I see in this post were used then too. King had a long history of criminal activity, and he resisted arrest, so the cops had the right to beat him so badly that, even after they had him subdued, they hit him with enough force to knock one of his eyes out of his head as well as cause numerous other serious injuries. That was fine, they argued, because King was not a model citizen ( ... )

1. I complain about it because I WAKE UP FUCKING 7 HOURS AFTER THIS POST AND EVERYONE'S ENTRIES ARE ABOUT THE TASER INCIDENT WHICH, COMING INTO CONTACT WITH IT AT WORK ALL DAY, I'M SICK OF HEARING AND READING ABOUT. I wrote my long post because I was making my last stand for what I think about the situation with supporting evidence which I figured you'd love because it wouldn't just be my thoughts, they'd be supported.

2. He was subdued by 6 officers, yet he rolled over when they were trying to put the other handcuff on so that they couldn't reach his arm. I've seen high school fights where you have a few administrators holding back crazy girls in a catfight and the girls will keep on tearing at each other. Not even a fat, 350 lb man can hold them back.

3. I'm bringing in outside issues because it's my opinion. I'm a psychologist, so yes, i'll talk about his behavior at the time, his mindset, and his behavioral patterns that i've noticed in the past. Psychology is my bag, baby.

Forget whatever it is that you're doing and go into law or something.

hah, why?

I did it because i was sick and tired of having to defend myself against people. So I did what any rational person does, I did research.

I don't want to be a lawyer. Politics and Law don't interest me. I'm more interested in the microcosm of the mind and dreams and feelings than who's right and wrong when it's purely subjective. Thus, Psychology, man.

I guess I'll admit that I don't think that you or any of the above people need to agree with me, but at the very least, there's the proof for my ideas.
