At least I can still put the w(h)ine in the freezer

It's exactly nine months since I started working at Parliament, and while it's basically the best thing that's ever happened to me, I have to admit that it's significantly detracted from my ability to write LJ posts. There are heaps of things I want to post about (the true love of Ray Toro and James Dewees, for example, or the fact that I went to ( Read more... )

What the hell is a canadian shack challenge?

Also that sucks about the food. That would bug me too. Some of the food we eat is actually better 'spoiled', like french toast is better with stale bread as it sucks up more egg, and banana muffins need rotten bananas. But you can't do that with everything, soured milk is just soured milk. It would kill me if I had to throw out an entire fridge of stuff.

Curses, I can't find the original post about the Canadian Shack challenge! But it was apparently a thing that started ten years ago in Due South fandom, where some people took the common fandom trope of two guys from DS hooking up in a shack in the Canadian wilderness, and applied it to all their other fandoms, until there were about 100 fics about couples getting lost in Canada and snuggling in a random shack to stay warm. And now there's a 10th anniversary challenge with a collection on AO3, and even though I've never seen Due South and had never heard of the original challenge, I can write Kyon/Haruhi for pretty much anything. So I wrote something!

Some of the fridge stuff is salvageable, but all my dairy is pretty dead. Remarkably, the milk still *looks* fine, but I'm still not game to drink it.

Erk. Glove up, grab a good sturdy bin liner, and pretend you're disposing of Tony Abbott's corpse.

HEY BB.

Throwing out food is the worst. I was so proud of myself for portioning up and freezing my casserole. FOOD FOR THE WEEK!

What are you doing? Want to meet up to watch more hockey? (If you have broadband, I'm happy to come over to yours and log in there rather than making you put up with the cats)

I'm so up for more hockey! I'm pretty busy this weekend, but I could do Friday night if you're free?

Tonight, or next week? I can't do next week, unfortunately, but I can do tonight! Short notice though, so I will understand if you are already booked or too busy.

Beyond that, I am free at this stage for the weekend of the 3/2, so pick your night/day!

Tomorrow night? Next week is probably going to be busy for me, unfortunately, since I'm going to Big Day Out and have friends coming from Adelaide for it. Unless you're free on Australia Day? I have nothing planned for it so far, most of my friends will be away.
