A Short Stack primer, because I can't sleep and why the hell not

I don't think it's exactly the ideal time to be making a primer on Short Stack. It's 1am and I can't sleep and I'm drinking chamomile tea with a hefty slug of whisky in it to try to compensate and it's still not working. But Shaun Diviney is tweeting about MCR (omg his background is Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles) and it seems as good a time as any

I'm glad you enjoyed the laziest primer ever. I really do like their music in a fun, trashy pop-punk way - they're a lot like All Time Low or The Cab. (Except from here, which makes them better for me because they have my accent and watch the same TV shows at me and get in dumb fights with the other local artists I love.) But mostly I just feel that though they're not quite worth the effort of making a thorough primer, they're certainly worth the effort it takes to share the funny bits.

And at the end of the day they're still just three boys who wanted Geeway to notice them. He hasn't yet, but they made a lot of money trying and won the hearts of tons of Australian girls, so I guess it all works out.

(Yes they are Australia's Panic, The Cab and All Time Low in one. They are basically the only successful Australian emo/pop-punk band ever, though, so I forgive them a lot.)

I will never stop loving for being ridiculous, stupid, and giant fanboys, though. I mean really, if I bumped into one of them at BDO tomorrow I would go "DUDE HOW GREAT ARE MCR?" and he would go "I KNOW RIGHT?" and we would high five. (And then I would be like "Seriously though, did you just get a tour guitarist so Shaun could wank onstage more effectively?" and he would go "lol yeah pretty much." and then I would snark him about Powderfinger.)

SHORT STACK CAN STILL DREAM, OKAY? ONE DAY GEEWAY WILL CARE ABOUT THEIR SONGS ABOUT WEREWOLF ROMANCE. ONE DAY.

I feel like this also needs a slight Australian to normal language translation. Like definitions of 'bogan' and 'murder in the dark' and why Spicks and Specks matters, and possibly what Spicks and Specks is.

I love them in the sense that I like to laugh at them a lot and one day I will buy their documentary and get a bunch of people around to drink and laugh at it.
