Getting an iPod added over 1 mph to my bike ride to/from work. Or, at least, listening to old school hardcore techno (Ron D Core vs DJ Dan) on my iPod did.
Don't know how many years getting sideswiped by some car i don't hear will take off my life, but i'm sure it won't be worth it.

Haha, I was going to make some comment about the ipod being a pretty bad idea... but nm ;-)

sideswiped isn't too bad. it really depends on how you fall. if you see it even a few split seconds before it happens your body will brace itself. you lose maybe six months, tops. if you don't see it coming, you lose maybe two years. still mostly just scrapes and bruises in the interim.
but really. in those two lost years... your time perception has sped up, your recollection has slowed down, your quality of life has shot way down, and that's probably only worth about as much as two pretty good weeks currently are.
head-on gets a little more complicated. but that's gotta be some damn good techno to distract you from head on. lay off of listening to any tigerskin.
