it is like the teaser scenes in the opening. where the hard-boiled main character (he will insist it's not meant to be him but it totally is) has a neat hot useful secretary and a subordinate who is also his partner (but also a subordinate). the solve the mystery of a hidden crime ring in a city where the wind blows strong (BUT NOT FUUTO) and attacks around the city (THAT ARE NOT DOPANTS).
then it gets released and it bombs terribly and shoutarou goes back to being a detective and not a writer (also because he can no longer afford ink for his typewriter.)

SHOUTAROU AND PHILIP are forever partners forever and always and forever. They are not ideal for each other and Shoutarou knows that; but that's what DOES make them ideal. He feels terrible for leaving for that short time again, even though it was out of his control. Shoutarou's in a very difficult place right now because pixels, and he hasn't got any idea how to cope when the inevitable happens and he's worried more for Philip; whether he's suffering, what he thinks of it all - it's just painful. He hasn't been alone for two whole years, and he realises it's just not going to be the same ever because Shou loev Phil and bawww ;;
anyway yes

Shoutarou and J well... Shoutarou is a bit perplexed by J as an individual. He knows there is something not quite right about him, but can't place it because J has been nothing but (fairly) normal to him. And as we know, he's no master of the subtle. But for now there's nothing he has to go on, so he'll keep being just a liiiiiittle wary of him.
