As for what she's good for, if you need somebody to fuck around with gravity and crunch a bot or ten, she's your man. Need to bury a drone? She can do that. Set something on fire at a distance? She can do that. Make an ice sculpture? Whatever floats your boat.
On the other hand, she's absolutely useless with a gun and will side-eye any useful equipment they find.
I'm okay with handwaving introductions and stuff or playing them out -- I imagine Jaedri will show up by tagging along with chellbot.
In Halo 3, they take down the scarabs by knocking out their legs and then going inside and SHOOTING EVERYTHING. Maybe they can hit the legs by using portals to fire stuff at them at high speeds (huge rocks, maybe huge rocks on fire!) while Marian hits them with magic, then Jaedri can take someone in and they can go hog wild on the orange, creamy insides.
What if we broke this post down into different sections? We could have one thread for introductions if people want to do that, another for like traversing the desert, another for infiltrating the military base, and then one for the Scarab finale.
