for the first time in YEARS, i watched the VMAs. was it me, or was the show just barely meh! ETA: the BEST part was watching with maja_carlislei am not that into pop music per se but the performers just didn't make me go ooooh. I'm sad to hear Russell wasn't good last night - I've heard mixed reviews from fans of his as well. His radio show always makes my week, and I love his stand-up. From what I saw on YouTube, I think he was really nervous.

could have been nerves but he should have realized his shortcomings and toned it down. if the reviews are mixed even from his fans, then i don't feel in the minority with the dislike here. hopefully he will learn from this and continue to temper his craft. ;)

I haven't gotten to watch it yet, so I don't really know. Most fans who didn't like it seemed to think he was toned down too much for the American audience, and just wasn't as funny as he usually is. *shrug* I'll be interested to hear his next radio show - I'm sure he'll talk alllllll about the VMAs!

I must be ancient, then, because I've never found Russell Brand funny. I can't stand the type of 'humour' that relies on constantly putting people etc down, and I find him as an individual extremely irritating.

*ahem* It's Britney Spears, not Brittany. ;)

And you forgot to mention that you watched the VMAs with me. *pouts*

I stopped watching MTV years ago because there's more ringtone commercials on it than actual music videos. Meh.

I love British humour but I do not find Russell funny in any way shape or form. I loved Forgetting Sarah Marshall but he was the only thing I could have done without honestly.

I heard about what he did and I am not impressed at all. I guess I do not think making fun of young adults mature decisions to hold off sex until marriage as something to make fun of. I think it is something to be cheered really.

that part about the young adults was just a dead horse he KEPT beating. it was sad and rude.

IMO he was there to stir things up. You don't hire Brand if you want politeness. So I guess the producers got what they wanted!

Brand is a man-ho, the idea of people keeping it for marriage is alien to him. OTOH, I've heard SO many rumours that the Jonas Brothers are only wearing the rings for show and are living a lie! Jordin Sparks probably isn't, so I can see why she said something.
