[Well, that explains a LOT. Except for the whole burning moment he felt at the end of the dream. He still has a lot of questions, but he knows how to skate around issues, just like Jessamine does as well and so he chooses another way so perhaps they can talk about this later on.]

Is your birthday coming up soon?

[Because why else she would dream about it, right?]

[By the time she answers, Jessamine's hair is already carefully arranged and she's dressed. Her skin looks absolutely flawless - no light scars in sight. Her lips quirk up into something of a smile; she thought that she'd be more excited about turning eighteen but maybe that's because she's not home in London.]

Mmm...well I suppose if you mean by soon, then I suppose that would mean it's today.

[The change is noted and it doesn't really surprise Desmond. But his expression does change to shocked when Jessamine admits the date of her birthday]

Today!?!? [Shit, he's not prepared AT ALL. And with the ice outside, it'll have to wait.]

How old are you now? [You know, he never asked.]

[The reaction wasn't something she expected at all and it makes Jessamine laugh.] it isn't as if I expected anyone to remember. Only people from home would know.

Eighteen.

(As Wrath watches the image of the frightened girl, the girl wary of the man he feels it as well, suspicion even if there is no nearby enemy. He feels nothing for the girl hesitating to accept the man's offer. When the girl yearns for something he barely notices it. Determination, an utterly human trait--ah, but this girl isn't human, is she--as Wrath watches the girl being marked with a symbol of an eye inexplicably arrests his attention--why should he feel empathy with her at all--burning. He grabs his right hand with a wince, which is burning--not on fire, but from the inside--could it be? He finally makes the connection.)

These images must project pain onto the viewer.

(Wrath drives his irritated glare into the one responsible for these images. He is not surprised in the least that her outward appearance is flawless. Evidently he does not understand the correlation between her birhday in the dream and her actual brithday.) What could your birthday possibly do with it?.!

[Well, she was going to ask if you were alright but if he's going to ask that rudely then there was little point.]

Do with what exactly sir?

(Wrath lets go of his hand, that stops tingling. He takes no notice of the girl's rightful annoyance with him, but hs regains a civil tone. )

What has it being your birthday got to do with triggering these images?

(His tone is once again flat, masking what he is feeling right now. Underneath, there is a twinge of fear. Not fear of the pain that the images caused--ludicrous to even mention it.)

Why is it-- (But fear of the control that it implies. Not even Father can transfer his pain onto his pawns. A power that surpasses Father's--Wrath fears Father as if he were God and that there may be something greater than God makes him, the unshakable Homunculus, afraid. He has not felt fear for his person for many years.) --that you can project your pain onto me, by use of these images, girl?!

(His tone is again brusque, louder than normal, snapping--In the face of this overwhelming power, Wrath cannot mask his loss of control.)

[Jessamine flinches but merely out of shock. What right has this man to speak to her like that? She bristles ever so slightly, recovering quickly.]

Pardon me, but I doubt I have to answer any of your questions if you ask me like that!

Miss Lovelace? Are you an angel?

[Oh, by the Angel...how should she explain this.]

Good morning, Miss Alice. I wouldn't say that exactly. It was just a dream you know.

Was the dream true? [If it means your an angel, Alice will be finding out.]

My mama and papa were very true, is that what you mean? [And little Alice is going to have to try harder. Even childish charm doesn't work on her.]

[Well he sees it but he's not going to comment. He'll just remember it for later conversations.]

[Oh she's so not in the mood for Jace, regardless whether or not he says anything. Nobody could tell though with a pleasant smile on her face and acting as if nothing were wrong.]

Good morning, Jace. Did you sleep well?

How fortunate for you. Is it still an icy wasteland out there? I do miss my walks.

... Jessamine-san? Are you all right?

Tohru! [She smiles at the sight of her friend.] Of course I am. Nothing to worry about.

But your dream... [Tohru wasn't sure what to make of it. Demons? Nephilim? Why was that man asking so much from a little girl?] Your parents seemed so worried about you talking to that man.

halfthelady January 16 2011, 07:47:06 UTC
Oh him. [She pauses for a moment trying to figure out something to say. She doesn't want to lie to Tohru, but she's practically the only one that doesn't know a thing about her past life and that's the way she'd like to keep it.]

Wouldn't any parent if the man was spouting absolute nonsense?
