I hate this time of year. The weather and dullness makes me fretful, insecure, and whiny.

I think everyone puts on a "face" for the world. Not much we can do about this, really. I'm not sure when it happened, or if humanity has always been this way, but more and more it doesn't seem like people can just be themselves. Oh, sure, we're all hammered by that platitude over and over again as we grow up, but it's not really true, is it?
No one likes the real us, or maybe they would, but we've grown so accustomed to hiding our true selves that the very thought of dropping the facade literally terrifies us.
A thought I just had, I wonder how much of that is due to Middle/High School?
