Every now and then it hits me like the proverbial tonne of bricks. It hits me all at once, after a few weeks or even months of being able to downplay or deny this fact:

I do not enjoy my line of work.

Please note that this is statement is not the equivalent of saying "I hate my job." I actually don't hate my job - it is a good job, it pays well

If you ever figure out a way to find something you like to do, PLEASE share! (Of course, if you figure that out, you'd have your viable side business, I do believe.)

But to address the main point, I am with you 100%. I stay where I am because the environment is about the best I could ask for, given that I think being in a union shop would be the death of me. I don't love the work, but I haven't seen much of anything that would interest me more, so I figure I'm better off stacking up the seniority and hopefully getting to pick up extra skills and experiences aside from my regular work.
