I never would have thought that a welder at a construction site could look beautiful, but the picture you helped me create in my mind comes really close. As much as I enjoy photography, I rarely carry a camera either. It just isn't practical to take an SLR and a bunch of lenses everywhere I go. I've thought about getting a point-and-shoot, but the perfectionist in me keeps saying that a bad picture would annoy me more than having no picture at all. For the pictures I miss taking, I have my memory. With your gift of describing scenes, I only need my imagination for the pictures you miss.
I actually have a pretty decent point and shoot camera that wouldn't be too hard to carry along in my purse. I just never remember to bring it along. The other thing is, the things I see that make me wish I had a camera with me often involve people and I've had a bad experience with taking a strangers photo in the past so I'm a bit hesitant about it.
