040. Apocalyptica, Bonfire Night, Aikido and thoughts of Christmas

This post is long overdue, but... I went to see Apocalyptica in Wolverhampton a week ago and had a good time. It could've been better - I wasn't feeling too well as I had caught a cold - but the gig itself was great. The cello boys are still ridiculously talented and hot, and crazy as always. Mmmmmh, I liked Eicca's wet dreams of Mikko :D Lots of ( Read more... )

Oh God, Eicca gave you that line about his wet dream with Mikko as well?! XD I love these guys, they're such dorks!

The singer's name is Tipe Johnson, from the Leningrad Cowboys. I really don't like to see a singer with Apocalyptica on stage, it makes the cello guys look like an ordinary band, if you know what I mean. As for Antero, I read somewhere that he's no longer an official member of Apocalyptica, and that he now plays full time in a symphonic orchestra in Finland.

Seems like he's been talking about it in lots of places then :D Heeeee.

Thank you for the info! I wasn't overly excited, either, I prefer their songs without lyrics. It's like you say, with a singer they seem more like a "normal" band, and they really arent'.

It was great, yes! I was referring to the picture quality, they are too grainy and blurry to my liking :S

It is crazy, I know! I've only got used to it a tiny bit; I'm still freezing most of the time here. At least we have the tiny heater for emergencies.. :P

awww looks like soo much fun wish i had the money and time spare to have gone ._.

I think spending Christmas in Finland does give off a better wintery-xmas feel with all the snow than the rain of England =P Everyone has family traditions that it's weird having to try and fit in to others ideas or change them... like my fmaily don't open presents from under the tree until after we have eaten where as my boyfriend they all open their present sin the morning at around 8am!

December shopping = warzone XD

I have no heating in the shop so it's freezing that I have been making draught excluders (just need a covering fabric) for the office area to keep the drafts out. To keep eletric bills low I am trying to tough it out when i am alone in the shop but for my staff I have got a mini heater to put on for them.

It would've been so nice if you could've come :( ...although I might not have been very good company as I was ill, grrr.

Christmas in Finland definitely feels more Christmas-sy, even if you can't really count on snow anymore these days, especially in the south. I'm just trying to get used to it here and make the best of it, at least I still have days off then and can relax properly. ...and make some Finnish Christmas dishes, mmmm :)

I dread going to shops in December, it's a nightmare!

Brrrr! You English people are so tough :p It's true though, having the heating on is ridiculously expensive. I think if I had to pay electric bills I'd just put even more clothes on more often.

That's true, but keeping your house warm is important though, otherwise you'll get much humidity and no one wants mould in their house I think? (And that's not a pleasure to live in too, you know that actress that suddenly died last year, one of those girls from Clueless: it was because of her mouldy house!)

And Antero is playing fulltime with the Lahti orchestra since the World's Collide-tour was over. They only had an arrangement for 2 years, after that the director of the Lahti put Antero for a choice: fulltime Apo or fulltime Lahti.

I certainly missed him in Brussels, but it wasn't as bad as the previous summer when I saw them on a festival. I had the feeling they were still adapting everything to 3 cello's back then. Now it sounds rich and full again, even though there are still only 3 of them.

Well, true. I think we actually have some mould in this house and it's so damp it's not funny :( I think that might be one of the reasons why I tend to have a permanent cough during winters here. I don't know what to do about it, though, since this isn't my house.

Ahhh, ok. Well, as long as he's happy then great. He seemed lovely but not really the kind of person who would tour with a metal band. I couldn't really hear a difference to be honest, they sounded just as good to me as they always have. Mmmmm, lovely, crazy cello boys! ♥
